Any one who knows me knows how much of a Beyonce fan I am. I have a tattoo on my foot that is the roman numeral for four: IV, it is a special number for Bey and Jay. Beyonce was born on September 4, and Jay Z December 4. Their daughter Blue’s middle name is Ivy, when said out loud spells out the roman numeral four and It just so happens to be the same tattoo that Jay Z and Beyonce have on their ring fingers. I grew up believing I would never see her perform live and after being blessed with the Mrs Carter World Tour in 2013 I thought surely that was it for me. I could die happy. Little did I know, I would be seeing her give a career defining performance at the biggest festival in the world. Which brings me to my second favourite moment of Coachella 2018.

2: BEYCHELLA

After cancelling her Coachella appearance in 2017 to give birth to twins Rumi and Sir, Bey vowed to fans she’d be back to headline the festival in 2018. Of course I was one of the unlucky fans who had purchased tickets in the hopes to see the queen perform and had only flown half way around the world for her but whatevs.

The Coachella 2018 lineup came around and I knew straight away that there was no way in hell I was going to miss out on this show AGAIN so we booked tickets and away we went for round two.

I can tell you that it was worth every hour on the plane, it was worth every dollar spent and every moment spent stressed out trying to ensure I had the best Beychella experience imaginable.

Beyonce, our Queen gave the performance of her life and hailed the biggest crowd for a single act Coachella has ever seen. She had a full size college band placed on a giant pyramid and performed for an incredible hour and forty five minutes giving audiences a setlist of songs across her entire career with multiple high energy dance breaks. The set has been regarded as historic and was as a tribute to the Historically Black College and University(HBCU) experience also touching on feminist themes.

Musically and visually this set was more than I could have ever imagined possible and then combined with the special guests… It was truely a dream come true and for me it will no longer be called Coachella, it will always be known as Beychella.
